Beth Milner: Misconceptions about Self-Compassion: It is Important to Practice | Raising Parents #30

Self-compassion is a concept that has gained significant attention in recent years, as individuals strive to foster a healthier relationship with themselves. However, there are several misconceptions surrounding self-compassion that often hinder its practice and prevent individuals, including parents, from reaping its benefits. One common misconception about self-compassion is that it is synonymous with self-indulgence or selfishness. Another fallacy about self-compassion is that it signifies weakness or a lack of motivation to improve. A prevalent misconception is that self-compassion fosters narcissism or self-centeredness. This misunderstanding arises from a confusion between self-compassion and self-esteem.
